Bookseller Notes

Inscribed by the author on the flyleaf: 'Pour Liam O'Flaherty, avec ma sympathie la meilleure-celle qui ouvre telle grande la porte l'amiti'. Above this, the author has erased a previous inscription, evidently retaining this copy having intended to present it.The Irish novelist was in the first flush of his success at the time this book was published, 'The Informer' was published in the same year, but the inscription looks to be later - a supposition corroborated by the obliterated one above it (that name no longer legible, but the author's signature extant).
