The recipient was Tennant's aristocratic contemporary Mary Montagu Douglas Scott (ne Lascelles), Duchess of Buccleuch, with her ownership initials (as Mary Buccleuch) beneath, located to Newark & Bowhill in April 1951.A collection of Cather's reflections on her own work and assessments of other authors.
