Bookseller Notes

This appears to be a rather free arrangement of Kffner's opus 86 'Potpourri for Flute (or Violin) and Guitar on Tancrde', known from a manuscript copy dated 1856, but composed in the 1820s, a theme and variations by Christian Flummel and an unattributed lively waltz. Joseph Kuffner (1776 - 1856), violinist and bandmaster with the Bavarian army, now best known for his significant contributions to the guitary repertory, also wrote symphonies and chamber music. It is certainly possible, particularly given the corrections, that this is in the hand of the composer, perhaps called upon to provide music in his position as bandmaster for the instrumentalists at his disposal.
