Minet's poetic career was seemingly derailed by his passion for the American artist Lillian Fisk, and, following a couple of novels in 1928 and 1930, his next major work (hailed as such by Artaud and Breton) was the confessional 'La Dfaite' in 1946, where he describes his 'double honte' - that of having 'tu en moi le pote et de n'tre qu'un homme ordinaire'.
