Walter de la Mare edits and provides a long introduction to this anthology of prose and poetry on the subject of dreaming.This copy formerly belonged to Iain Bain, whoe long and eminent career as a historian of printing and a publisher came after an equally illustrious youthful background in hammer-throwing.

FIRST EDITION, title-vignette and colour-printed lithographic frontispiece by Barnett Freedman, half-title browned, pp. viii, 702, 8vo, original blue cloth, backstrip lettered and with a Barnett Freedman vignette stamped in gilt, backstrip darkened, cloth a little soiled with some faint grazing to lower board, corners gently knocked with light rubbing to extremities, top edge pink, others untrimmed, edges a little browned and spotted, endpapers spotted, the flyleaf with the ownership inscription of print historian and publisher Iain Bain, dustjacket to a lithographed design by Barnett Freedman, backstrip panel slightly sunned with a faint vertical crease, slightly rubbed to extremities with a couple of very small chips, the rear flap with a nick and a msall section excised at top corner, very good
