The novelist had sometime written her name in pencil above, but this now erased; still present are her notes to the text - expressing at times her approval, at others her disagreement or befuddlement (one page is marked 'Completely - to me incomprehensible').Nott attended Somerville College, Oxford, before going on to a literary career as poet, novelist, critic and philosopher - the present work combining the latter two of these.
