Publisher's Synopsis

Zoya grew up in Kabul during the wars that ravaged Afghanistan. The daughter of activists, she was to lose both parents to the mujaheddin at an early age. She then followed in her mother's footsteps joining the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, which challenged the crushing edicts of the fanatical religious government. Fleeing Afghanistan for Pakistan she was educated by RAWA and now works for them, based at a refugee camp in Pakistan but also making dangerous journeys back to her homeland and speaking around the world about the plight of women under the Taliban. The attacks on New York and subsequent overthrow of the Taliban regime make Zoya's Story very timely.
