Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Yonah, and Other Poems
With this high conception of the poet's mission, I may incur the charge of presumption in presenting to the pub lic eye this volume of verses that fall so far short of poesy's true aim and attainment. My only defense is that, in yielding to solicitations from friends who insist that these products of my muse are worthy to be bound togeth er ih a book, I follow the impulse of an honest heart.
