This book is about the cellular and molecular mechanisms of vertebrate wound repair, tissue regeneration, and appendage regeneration. Each of these processes is described, and similarities and differences among them are discussed. Among others there are chapters on wound repair and tissue regeneration, urodele limb regeneration, the stimulation of regeneration, and the creation of artificial tissues and organs. Finally, the book aims to bring together topics of interest to basic biomedical and clinical scientists, and to stimulate research collaborations between these two groups.
