Publisher's Synopsis
The "Internationale Arbeitsrechtliche Dialog - IAD" (International Labour Law Dialogue), which has been held regularly in various countries since 2005, is intended to promote regular international exchanges and linkages between academia and labour law practice and is directed both at academics as well as legal practitioners (lawyers, judges and state employees). Since it was established, it has developed into a fixed point of reference for international and comparative labour and social law and is conducted in part in German and in part in English. At the seventh conference, renowned lawyers from around Europe met on 30 and 31 October 2014 at the University of St. Gallen in order to discuss the issue of "working time". The increasing flexibilisation of working time for both employees and employers has given rise to challenging questions in relation to health and social protection, productivity and the work-life balance. Thus, after presenting the applicable law within their own countries, the speakers went on to outline how working time could be regulated in future and stated their willingness to provide written versions of their papers for this volume. The editors extend their heartfelt thanks to the authors.
