Publisher's Synopsis

This text looks at women's health and health problems from before birth to death. Using epidemiological statistics, it compares women's health profiles with those of men, in both the developed and developing countries, in order to ascertain the real health issues which affect women. It argues that women's health is genuinely different to that of men. Women not only live longer, but have different patterns of illness. Because those differences have not been fully recognized, much of women's ill-health has been misrepresented or ignored.
