Women Empowerment is a burning issue that has been questioning our society of its civilization since years. There are so many women, who are silently baring the harassment both in personal and professional life because of the lack of education, lack of legal awareness and disbelief. In a patriarchal society that we live in women need to develop identity of their own to abridge the gender gap for a healthy environment. Simply, they are the most potential and capable resource on earth that are untapped and are not aware of the right they deserve. And this is why we need women empowerment. The Indian government also admits that the reasons behind the declining Child Sex Ratio in the country, primary the socio- cultural mindset having preference for son, considering girls as burden. Many agencies of United Nations in their reports have emphasized that gender issue is to be given utmost priority. It is held that women now cannot be asked to wait any more for equality. The vitality of the issues compels our society not only to think over it but to act upon. This is a short account of what we wanted to write without revealing the crux of what we want the audience to understand from our first ever book. Parliament is the place where thoughts are put in actions.Often we find ourselves unaware of many schemes which are being implemented by the government. Since the parliament has the best coverage on government schemes about women issues, so we decided to write down the details which came across the parliamentary discussions and forward it to the people who want to know about what government is doing for the welfare of women. This attempt came in this form (Women in Parliament: Issues and Discussion). The content of the book is based on the information provided by the Women and Child Development Minister in the house while replying to the questions regarding women issues asked by the MPs. In the first section of the book, various schemes which are being implemented by the government for the welfare of women are discussed while the section II deals with the fund allotted for the implementation of the women welfare schemes. In section III, the issues discussed are still a big concern for the government and the society. The next section is dedicated to the issues related to the widows while the final section deals with the miscellaneous issues.
