Publisher's Synopsis
The Wisdom Writers is a compilation of memoirs from high school students at the University Charter School in Livingston, Alabama. Focusing on conflicts, fears, relationships, character traits, stress, and anxiety, students examine and describe their experiences as high schoolers in a rural area.
High school. It's supposed to be the best time of your life, right? From late-night parties to heart-racing sports games, and most of all, friendships that last a lifetime. But what about the high expectations, major workloads, stress, or social issues? There is more than meets the eye once you enter the depths of being a high school student. People acknowledge and celebrate the good times, but we will unleash the behind-the-scenes reality.
Real-world. Growing up, parents tell us about the "real world", what it's like, and what to expect. Parents don't realize we are living in the "real world" each day. It's not until high school that you really see and start to understand what the world is like. In our book, teens discuss and explain their life experiences and how they view the world. Through writing, we are able to express our frustration and reflect on overcoming challenges in order to help other students who are navigating teenage years. You are not alone. We hope this book can bring a new perspective and insight into the lives of authentic teenage students.
