Publisher's Synopsis
John Bruce Glasier knew Morris in the days of the Socialist League in the 1880s. He went on to become a prominent member of the Independent Labour Party and a stong anti-Marxist. During his final illness Glasier wrote this book of vivid reminiscences, first published in 1921 with an approving preface by Morris's daughter, May. The memoir shows how highly Glasier regarded Morris, and casts an interesting light on the early days of British Socialism. The reliability of a memoir written some 30 years after the events to which it refers must be open to dispute; readers have the opportunity to decide how far the Morris described by Glasier strikes them as being the Morris they have come to know in other ways.
