Publisher's Synopsis
In a world where the number of true democracies are decreasing by the day, it is a must that we ask ourselves why. Current political leaders in the free world are now setting precedents through their actions in a way that will have ever-lasting effects on the few states and sovereign nations that have managed so far to preserve the freedom of the people. With a growing wave of naivety among voters, populists and anarchists have managed to garner widespread support that could essentially mean the beginning of an era of oppression on a global scale. The fact that governments have done nothing to raise the bar with regards to who can launch political campaigns is further proof of how hard it might be to destroy such establishments once they are there. In hopes of destroying the aspirations of citizens, rulers have resorted to cut funding to educational institutions and academic foundations to dumb down next generations and set new norms of life where necessities turn into privileges. The obsolete curriculums and educational methods, on the other hand, have not helped in creating bonds between young people and their tutors, contributing to the destruction of societies by bringing up voters easily persuaded by astute activists that have zero intention of leaving office once elected. In other words, the majority of eligible voters, if not properly educated and brought up to develop crucial skills in order to read between the lines of political speeches, through critical thinking and analysis, pose the biggest threat to democracy itself by being prone to deliberately vote for the wrong person, without being able to forsee the consequences. In this book, the author takes his time to present his view on the matter and offer clear, possible solutions to curb such danger through a transitional phase that focuses on giving the educational sector the attention it deserves in order to preserve nations. He manages to shed the light on the clear link between politics and academics through historical events and ongoing cases of politics to show what is at stake. For him, it is either democratic activities on the condition of fulfilling eligibility criteria, or no democracy at all.
