Publisher's Synopsis
This anthology attempts to give the general readers who may be interested in poetry written in Africa some idea of the variety and quality of African poetry by assembling representative samples. This publication brings together poems from different African countries, and different levels of writers. The purpose of this anthology 'Whispers from Africa' is to display the varied beauty of African poetry while addressing critical social issues, especially those affecting children. The anthology's secondary purpose, derivable from its title, is to give voice to the otherwise 'voiceless' budding poets across the continent. It hopes, by publishing side by side the works of published and unpublished poets, to promote and provide opportunities for talented young writers.
