Publisher's Synopsis
"Where Love Poems Grow on Mango Trees" is a collection of poems, spoken word pieces, and love songs. It is a love letter to the Philippines, my loved ones, and the amazing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) community. I intend for it to give the reader a glimpse into the modern mind of a Global Filipino and to serve as a bridge and connection to the Filipino culture and heritage.
"Mango Jam", the second poem in this collection and the inspiration for the book's title, embodies the essence of being far away from home, the longing to be with our loved ones, and the way we cope by remembering. The book is divided into three parts. The first part is a collection of poems written in the three cities where I've lived-Manila, Singapore, and Paris. The second part consists of spoken word poetry, most of which were performed in France. The third part features songs written in collaboration with musicians and artists across time zones. This book is a great gift idea for anyone who likes Filipino poetry, culture and art.
