Publisher's Synopsis

Alene Delaney Simmons was born in 1921. She is the fifth of eleven children born to sharecroppers Leon (Lee) and Everline Buckingham Delaney. Leon was the son of George Delaney, who was the son of Matilda Talbert Delaney Perkins, who was the daughter of a slave and the Talbert plantation owner, James Leroy Talbert. The Talbert plantation resided in what is now considered the Keatchie mail route in Desoto Parish, Louisiana which is at the tip of Panola County, Texas, and Caddo Parish, Louisiana. In this memoir, Alene shares reflections of her life that covers periods of time including the Great Depression, World War II and Civil Rights. You will learn of her childhood shenanigans; how she met her husband; her children's gifts, as well as, how important her faith in Jesus Christ has kept her throughout good days and bad days. These are her reflections in her own words.
