Publisher's Synopsis
Mediation is the means by which a neutral third party helps two people in dispute to resolve their differences and plan their future co-operation. This work uses the experience of family mediation in Sweden, where it has been available for a decade, to present a model of best practice based upon what does and does not work in the actual process of mediating. A series of stories drawn from the work of Swedish family mediators is set into the developing context of British divorce law reform, reform which saw the publication in 1995 of a Government White Paper, "Looking to the future: mediation and the grounds for divorce".
