Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from What Is There in Religion?
There was nothing novel in this illustration. Centuries ago a psalmist had sung: There is a river the streams whereof make glad the city of God, and he was thinking Of God's presence with His people, for he continued: God is in the midst of her. And the prophet Ezekiel con eludes his description of the redeemed and restored holy land by picturing a miraculous river which emerged from the threshold of the Temple in Jerusalem and brought life whithersoever its waters came.
May I, a provincial New Yorker, crave your indulgence to employ our loved and admired Hudson as a parable, in attempting a fractional answer to the query, What is there in religion?
