Publisher's Synopsis
The nature of the problems that must be tackled in devising and implementing sustainable management of river basins is such that a background in a particular scientific or engineering discipline will never be entirely adequate for their solution. The objective of the 9th conference on river basin management, in common with its predecessors, was to bring together scientists, engineers, regulators and administrators to express and share their experience and opinions within this cross-disciplinary field. After a stringent review process 29 papers from authors from around the world have been selected for these proceedings. They cover the following topics: institutional approaches/issues; water resources management; water supply sources; monitoring; flow-related issues; sediments; pollution sources and control. These proceedings will prove a highly valuable source of information for anyone involved in any aspect of river basin management.
