Publisher's Synopsis

Wanderings on the Wild side is an extensive collection of wonderful sightings of kingfishers, colourful butterflies, wild deer and beautiful wild flowers, covering 36 years of natural history.

The book comprises of dairy entries, which explore the local countryside in the early nineteen eighties. Wanderings around the local area, when the author was just eight years old, instilled in her a deep-rooted love of wild life, flora and fauna. The author recalls hearing the flock of lapwings calling, "Peewit!" and watching them circling, twisting and turning in the blue skies far above.

Sketching and painting, also enjoyable activities from early childhood, enabled the author as a self-taught artist to try and capture the beauty of the landscape, where she walked so often, in the paintings as well as in the diary.
