Publisher's Synopsis

Waiting to Sail is a collection of 75 poems by Georgia Ressmeyer, inspired by her Long Island, New York childhood, employment as a public defender in Milwaukee, the decline and death of her parents, and the natural beauty of Lake Michigan and Wisconsin, where she has lived since 1974. Former Wisconsin Poet Laureate Bruce Dethlefsen (2011-2012) wrote of this book: "Share Ressmeyer's natural language and unforgettable imagery through the seasons by the water. Don't wait. Sail with her." Rob Pockat, founding editor of Stoneboat Literary Journal called Waiting to Sail "a graceful and perceptive meditation of human connection-physical, mental, emotional, philosophical-to the world we inhabit." Georgia Ressmeyer twice received grants from the Wisconsin Arts Board. She has published fiction, hundreds of poems, and an award winning poetry chapbook, Today I Threw My Watch Away (Finishing Line Press, 2010), in addition to her new book.
