Publisher's Synopsis
The proceedings of a conference on vibrations in rotating machinery, held in the University of Bath in September 1992. It provided a forum for the discussion of all aspects of machine vibration by engineers from a range of industries and universities all over the world. More than 70 papers were presented at the conference and they are collected together in this volume. Some of the topics covered include a vibration monitoring system in a nuclear generating station, gear condition monitoring, predicting the remaining life of rolling element bearings, the effects of thermal stress on seal dynamics and the vibrations of mechanical and electromagnetic coupling of an a.c. motor in the starting process.
