This book has been designed to look at all grammatical concepts during Verb formation from a Root-point-of-View. Indexes and collections are based on the Dhatu Serial Number, which is unique and easily referenced in standard Dhatupathas, including Siddhanta Kaumudi. Hence locating any Root is a snap. It covers all 1943 Roots of Dhatupatha.
This book is specifically written to help designers and coders who make tools to generate Sanskrit Tinganta forms using Root as input. On its own also it can prove to be immensely useful if one wishes to master the Dhatupatha of Panini vis-à-vis the ten Lakaras.
It lists the principal Ashtadhyayi Sutras involved during Verb construction for all the Ten Lakaras, Tenses and Moods of Sanskrit Grammar, viz.
Sarvadhatuka Ting Affixes 1 लट् 2 लङ् 3 लोट् 4 विधिलिङ् = Present Tense, Past Tense, Imperative Mood, Potential Mood.
Ardhadhatuka Ting Affixes 5 लृट् 6 लृङ् 7 लुट् 8 आशीर्लिङ् 9 लिट् 10 लुङ् = Future Tense, Conditional Mood, 2nd Future Tense, Blessing Mood, Perfect Past Tense, Aorist Past Tense.
The order of Lakaras chosen is very important, and quite relevant for learning, since:
1 लट् 2 लङ् 3 लोट् 4 विधिलिङ् are simple and frequently encountered in Literature.
5 लृट् and 6 लृङ् are very similar.
7 लुट् is next nearest in conjugation process.
8 आशीर्लिङ् is quite different in the treatment of Parasmaipada सेट् अनिट् & Atmanepada सेट् अनिट्
9 लिट् is unique as it does Reduplication and then many changes to initial letter.
10 लुङ् has different sets of affixes for different Roots, and is the most challenging.
The book forms an important link in the Sanskrit Grammar Vyakarana series, whereby one can see at a glance which Ashtadhyayi Sutras cause the final Spelling of a particular Verb.
