Venom is a monstrous and warped version of Spider-Man created when an extraterrestrial symbiote mated with a person with a hatred against Peter Parker. This combination has nearly killed the wall-crawler on several occasions.
Venom, despite his hatred for Spider-Man, has a perverted sense of morality, avoiding killing innocent people and even committing heroic deeds. It's never certain how long Venom can keep his darker instincts in check. Venom always manages to resurface, no matter how hard anyone tries to keep the symbiote at bay.
