After being stolen from a life amidst the desolate wastelands which is the only life that she has ever known, then forced into a society of refuge, Rae swiftly discovers that she has a higher purpose. Dormant abilities awaken within her, further supporting the objective of her newfound aspirations. The growing urgency to save humanity promptly compels her to make sacrifices she would not have even considered an option in her previous existence.
Life within the walls render her with the incessant battles of unfamiliar inclinations regarding her heart, soul and body, but she rises to the challenge and eventually begins to comprehend the peculiar yearnings as each day progresses. The man responsible for her captivity is entirely infuriating and constantly grating on her nerves, yet he quickly infiltrates her aversions and her heart.
Above all, the involuntary time spent within the fortified walls of Segment Ones assists her in discerning that she is more than just a lowly survivor... and most importantly, she learns that some rules are meant to be broken in order to completely live.
