Water supply and sanitation projects do not always receive their anticipated effectiveness, efficiency or sustainability. A major reason for failure often lies, not with the technology, but with the institutions that are responsible for implementing and maintaining these public health services. WEDC institutional development publications are intended to explore the issues relating to institutional development, finance and social marketing and make available to a wider audience the results of our case studies, MSc theses, research and consultancy projects.
