Man nimmt an, dass die numerische Gleich heit immer stattfinden werde, wenn die Reihe convergent ist; dies ist aber bis jetzt noch nicht bewiesen werden. Es sind selbst nicht alle F�lle untersucht werden, wo die Reihe con vergent ist. Selbst wenn man die Existenz der obigen Gleichung voraussetzte, m�sste dennoch der Werth von (1 x) gesucht werden; denn der Ausdruck hat im Allge meinen unendlich viele verschiedene Werthe, w�hrend die Reihe 1 mx ooooo nur einen einzigen hat.
