University of Minnesota Studies in Economics and Business were published continually beginning in the 1930s until the 1960s. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions.This series of publications was begun in 1932 to make available to scholars and to the public the findings of the studies in economics and business being carried out at the University of Minnesota. Many of these studies deal with controversial and provocative subjects. They have been made by investigators trained to discover and analyze the facts of a situation with as little bias as is humanly possible and with the broad social interests of the community always in view. The university presents the results of their findings as an aid to the solution of pressings social and economic problems.This collection is comprised of the first eight bulletins published between 1932 and 1933, pays close attention to the interests of the consumer, so neglected in past economic discussion. Topics include: Grocery Retailing; Coal Distribution in the Twin Cities; Public Merchandise Warehousing in the Twin Cities; The State Income Tax; The Decline of Northwestern Flour Milling; Gasoline Distribution in the Twin Cities; Grocery Qualities and Prices; and The Impact of the Depression on Business Activity and Real Income in Minnesota.
