During the heyday of the metallic woodworking plane, the Union Mfg. Co. of New Britain, Conn. produced both metal and wood sole woodworking planes similar to but superior to the Bailey model of the Stanley Rule & Level Co., also of New Britain, Conn. Union introduced the X series of planes, superior in both construction and design to the famous Bailey plane designs.Robert Porter has returned the Union X series of Union Planes to production.
