The synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John reference many of the same accounts of Jesus' ministry with varying and often conflicting detail. When viewed side-by-side, these highly editorialized accounts' many glaring inconsistencies become even more obvious, revealing the potential ulterior motives of the world's most commercialized religion as it evolved with the times. In this second volume of the Rational Bible series, the authors present corresponding passages alongside external works (both sacred and secular) that predate Christianity for the purpose of comparison. The reader is then encouraged to consider the reason for these inconsistencies (known as the synoptic problem) along the way. What remains amidst the rubble of religious mysticism?
