Publisher's Synopsis
In this poignant poetic work Ibrahima Fall tells the story of the sinking of The Joola, Senegal's national ferry, and the loss of his three daughters in this tragedy. The Joola capsized off the coast of The Gambia on September 26, 2002 and the disaster resulted in the deaths of more than 2,000 people. The sinking of the ferry Joola is thought to be the second-worst non-military maritime disaster in number of lives lost. "Une fleur dans la mer" (A flower in the water) is filled with heart-felt emotions and vivid memories of the author's daughters.
