Publisher's Synopsis
"Understanding the Trinity from the Scriptures - It's all about God's Love for You," is an easy to understand explanation of the unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit taken directly from the Word of God. The author, H.D. Shively, had been a Bible scholar for many years, but had not explored the doctrine of the Trinity in any depth until accused of being a polytheist by a Muslim. This book explains why the unity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is not polytheism or tritheism.
Because the definition of the Trinity is taken from the scriptures alone as it should be, it will challenge many conventional definitions that have deviated from the word of God. If we cannot teach the Trinity from scripture, we have no business teaching it as scripture.
This book answers questions that the top Bible colleges we contacted refused to answer. For example, Jesus said that God is Spirit (John 4:24), and the Hoy Spirit is His Spirit (Matthew 10:20). If the Holy Spirit is God's Spirit, then how can the Holy Spirit not be an aspect of God?
Can you show from the scriptures alone, the fourth element that unifies the Father, Son and Holy Spirit which makes them a tri-unity, a Trinity, a union of three?
The word "soul," which is the person or being of anyone, is associated with the Father and Son in scripture, but never the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is rendered in the neuter in the Greek; then how can the Spirit be a person? (My book shows that while the Holy Spirit is technically not a person, the Holy Spirit has a person.
