Publisher's Synopsis
In John 6:63, the response of our Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples when they were murmuring about His teachings was "...the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life". This response helps us to understand that, the spoken and the written word of God is full of life. But it is through the spirit, the life of His word is manifested. As a Bible Student and teacher, I specifically wanted to know more of the three common texts on the gift of tongues, namely, Mark 16, Acts 2 and 1Corinthians 14. Since those are the most quoted scriptures on the gift of tongues. While studying these texts, I realized that the tongues promised in Mark 16 and the one spoken in Acts 2 has a different adjective qualifying the word "tongue". Therefore, to understand this gift of tongues, we have to agree with the Biblical writers, why they include these adjectives (New and Other) to the word tongue and why these adjectives never appear again in all the places the gift of tongues is mentioned in the Bible. Hundreds of articles have been written concerning this topic, but without the notice of these two adjectives, we will still not have a complete understanding about the gift of tongues. In this book, I explore the reality of the gift of tongues in its fullness in the light of these two adjectives that precede the word "Tongues" as recorded in the Bible. I addressed the true Biblical meaning of the tongues described by Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 14 and deal with issues concerning the gift of tongue, and finally responded to some thought-provoking questions that the reader might want some lights on. Questions I have asked myself on this gift of tongues; the one I heard people asked, and those that came to me in the process of writing this book. I pray this book will restore light on this contentious topic, for the power of unity is with understanding.
