This collection of papers represents the lively exchange of ideas during the U.S. U.S.S.R. colloquium on library services to children held in Moscow. The Soviet participants' presentation of seven papers reflected their major concerns, which included an exploratory essay on how the structure of library services in the U.S.S.R. affects the reading habits of children and young adults and another essay examining current research on reading trends of young children and teenagers. Also featured are a forward by Robert Stueart, an epilogue by Marilyn Miller which adds meaning and depth to the exchange between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. delegates, and a photo essay covering the 1989 trip.
