The Review Body on Doctors' and Dentists' Remuneration advises the Government on the remuneration of doctors and dentists taking any part in the National Health Service. Written and oral evidence from medical bodies and the Government lead to recommendations and conclusions being made. These include: consultants' concerns about manpower shortages in particular specialties, as well as their concerns about their expanding non-clinical workload, should be addressed in the Departments' forecasting of future clinical needs; and pay scales for consultants, associate specialists, staff grade practitioners, hospital practitioners, all grades of junior doctors, all grades of dentist in dental public health and the Community Dental Service and clinical assistants should be increased by 3.4 per cent with a further addition of 0.35 per cent for pensions.
