There is also more or less danger in an Accounting Officer, who is confident that he has. Developed first class methods for arriving at the results which he desires to obtain, getting into the rut - se to speak - and failing to comprehend that while he may be standing still the pro cession is marching on. Notwithstanding the great ad vances that have already been made in railway account ing there is still a vast field of knowledge beyond which has not yet been fully explored. If we have receptive minds and are willing to admit that the other fellow may be handling certain lines of his work better and at the same time-cheaper than we are, then we shall continue to improve our methods and from time to time adopt new forms for stating our accounts as the necessities may re quire. May we all be faithful to the interests that have been entrusted to us and never forget to speak of our road and our officials as the best in the country. Such an attitude will soon get to be a habit of our lives and we all know that habits once formed are not easily broken.
