Publisher's Synopsis
Jo is a 13-year-old who has too much responsibility for her precocious little sister, Tilda. The girls have parents so why are they so often on their own? Well, Dad is an alcoholic and works too much, and Mom is more concerned about helping immigrants than in noticing she has two daughters who need help. Will Tilda ever quit sucking her thumb? Will Jo have time to act like a teenager before it's too late? The family is dysfunctional, but hope is coming from heaven in the form of puppies. Puppies? Yes, puppies became one of many diversions the author used to reach her 50,000-word goal during NaNoWriMo.
