Publisher's Synopsis
In a world where we are bombarded with one care after another, the notion of being in a continuous state of rest seems almost unachievable. It is so easy to become overwhelmed and burdened by the cares of life, leaving us emotionally, mentally and physically fatigued. Is it even possible to enjoy a life of rest? Or have we resigned to the belief that this kind of existence is only attained after certain worldly conditions are met, such as affluence - which is not the reality of many. We live in a time where more than ever before, it is important for the believer to enter the promise of rest given to us by God. This state of rest does not imply inactivity but it is dependent on how willing we are to engage the Word of God - allowing it to transform our minds and conform our will. The truth is we cannot find rest apart from God. We can only realize that rest when we truly place our trust in Him. Trusting God translates into complete surrender and obedience to His will and this inevitably results in rest on every side. The Apostle Paul encourages us to endeavor to enter in His REST. This is achieved when we come to the revelation of Proverbs 3:4-5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your path." The result of this is; He will make you to lie down in green pastures, He will lead you beside still waters, He will restore your soul, He will lead you in the path of righteousness for his name's sake and He will even prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies and cause your cup to always run over. This is REST! - rest on every side.
