Publisher's Synopsis
The Truancy Research Project was set up at the University of North London in September 1991. Its specific brief was to chart the scale and try to uncover the likely causes of truancy in English schools in Years 10 and 11, with reference especially to Post Registration Truancy (PRT), though parallel investigation of Blanket Truancy (BT) was also undertaken.;Twenty LEAS were selected for the research and every fourth school in each LEA was then contacted. Results show that 30.5 per cent of all students in Years 10 and 11 said they had truanted at least once in the last half term.
