Publisher's Synopsis
Did you know that your mail clerk is God? Middle-aged Michael didn't know that. He is stuck in his life as an unmarried, lonely, insurance clerk and he desperately wants a feeling of adventure and mattering. He feels time and being tied to his dead-end job will kill him. Then the new, overly-friendly office mailroom clerk, Geoffrey, magically appears in Michael's home right after his morning alarm goes off.
After several of these visits, Michael grows angry. He tries to report Geoffrey but everyone at work tells Michael there is no Geoffrey. Finally, with a flashback to the beginning of time, Geoffrey reveals to Michael that he is God. With that, Michael's life is turned upside down with work troubles, dating disasters and even a stay in jail. Geoffrey offers Michael a way out of his drudgery and chaos with an unspecified mission-for-God. It begins with a road trip for the two of them to the Grand Canyon and soon involves Franz Liszt, women, bars, the homeless, drug dealers . . .
