Publisher's Synopsis
SCAPA Bluegrass is a four through eighth grade elementary/middle school for Creative and Performing Arts in Lexington, Kentucky. For admittance, students audition in one of nine areas: band, ballet, contemporary dance, drama, literary arts, piano, orchestra, visual arts, or vocal music. The area in which they succeed becomes their major. This book is a collaboration between SCAPA's Literary and Visual Arts middle school majors. The student illustrators created artwork inspired by the childhood imagination and the student writers in turn composed poetry inspired by the artwork. This style of poetry is called ekphrastic poetry (vivid description of a work of art) and the aim is to amplify and expand on the artwork's meaning. Please enjoy this book and share it with your friends and family!
