Our old post-chariot, the running gear of which had been sadly dislocated by the stony ruts of the Bourdeaux road, was therefore again fitted up, on the presumption that it might hold together as far as Basil, where it would be no longer wanted, for post-horses are not to be had in Switzerland, and it is next to impossible to convey a car ria e over the Alps.
