Publisher's Synopsis
Translation practice can be one of the important forms of preservation of languages, although it is not usually associated with this preservation role. The present study results from the interest in determining the role of translation in preserving specific linguistic groups, or preventing them from perishing. The aim is to understand how general and specific applications of translation contributed to the preservation of certain languages. The research finds its evidence in specific literature about language survival, translation theories, and translations in Irish and Scots.
