Publisher's Synopsis

Transactions in International Land Management is a new set of volumes which provide an arena for the debate of key topical issues on this subject. - - Focusing on land management issues in developing countries and in regions undergoing massive and rapid transformation, this volume addresses key political and social issues of land ownership and tenure. It does so by examining negotiations over land reform in Columbia, the case of the Grameen landless and the register of the titles for ZimbabweÆs communal areas. Some of the contributors look at rural land use, management and development. Others discuss the rapid transformation of urban areas, from a case study on managing real estate registration and asset valuation in Kiev to land tenure in urban Kenya and a theoretical analysis searching for new approaches to the development of land for new urban areas. Broader theoretical questions on citizenship, society and land management, and on the impact of spatial distribution of land contamination on property investment appraisal are also discussed.
