The Council have much pleasure in being able to report on the continued prosperity of the Institute.
The number of new members added during the last year has been 106, making the total number 689. This is considerably in excess of the addition made in any former year, and more than twice that which took place on the occasion of the admission of Mechanical Engineers to the privilege of membership, and may be considered a ?attering proof that the efforts of the Institute to advance the sciences of Mining and Mechanical Engineering and improve the general standard of the scientific education of the district are appreciated.
