The late Senator Macdonald was certainly the best qualified of any man in commercial life to write on these matters, but he had not commenced the wholesale business for some time after some of these events took place. When I showed him what I had written, he said if I did not publish it, it would be lost, as there was no one else to do so, and chie?y through his in?uence I consented.
