Publisher's Synopsis
The second in the ""Monographs on Australian Lepidoptera"" series, this book provides the generic framework for about 200 species of Australian Tineidae in 44 genera. The first modern taxonomic treatment of a continental fauna and the first revision of this family in Australia since 1893 includes critical appraisal and re-definition of subfamilies and detailed reviews of tineid biology and pest status. It is well illustrated and contains detailed morphological accounts of each genus. Australian tineid fauna is discussed with particular reference to current research on the phylogeny of ""primitive"" Ditrysian moths and the monophyly of the Tineoidea and its constituent families.
