Tony Cottrell's verse is set in the semi-mythical realm of the Summer Lands to the far southwest of England. Cornwall is unique in being a clearly bounded land still steeped in legend. Here, the veil between the worlds is thin, and while the 'Summer Lands, ' may suggest for some the peaceful Otherworld of the Pagan afterlife, in the title of this book it refers to the mythological landscape itself as a living, creative source that fires and sustains its people.
